How it works

  1. Drop an image into the box above — a live preview appears.
  2. Flip horizontally or vertically (you can also rotate in 90° steps).
  3. Download the mirrored image in its original format.

Good to know

Front cameras usually show you a mirrored preview and some apps save the photo that way, which is why text in a selfie can come out backwards. A horizontal flip restores the real orientation and makes any writing readable again.

A vertical flip is rarely what you want for a photograph — it turns the image upside down along the horizontal axis, which reads as a reflection rather than a rotation. If the photo is simply the wrong way up, use a 180° rotation instead.

Mirroring only reorders existing pixels, so there is no quality loss beyond the re-encode when saving. You can also combine flips with 90° rotations here before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the text in my selfie backwards?

Front cameras usually preview a mirrored image, and some apps save it that way. A horizontal flip restores the real orientation so text reads correctly.

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Rotating turns the whole image around its center in 90° steps; flipping mirrors it across an axis. This tool does both, so you can combine them.

Does flipping lose quality?

No — mirroring just reorders pixels. JPGs are re-saved at high quality, which is imperceptible; PNG output is lossless.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The preview and the flip run entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to any server.
